There has been a disturbing rise of bullying in the Vtuber scene recently, specifically the EN scene…

I do believe that would be the reason the EN vtuber scene, indie and corpo, have been claimed to be just like high schoolers. Ironically enough, from my own experiences they were mainly twitch streamers.

I do believe that would be the reason the EN vtuber scene, indie and corpo, have been claimed to be just like high schoolers. Ironically enough, from my own experiences they were mainly twitch streamers.

Yeah twitch streamers felt more like high schoolers to me with how much petty drama that goes on the daily. Vtubers are more or less misguided individuals that needs strong leadership to keep them in check, as evident with corpos like Hololive. The problem is that the scene nowadays is lacking in strong leaders.

Because of social media people slowly stopped mature outside of highschool.

It definitely got worse after the pandemic. Feels like folks never truly got over it in a way. It’s like a lasting trauma or something

Bullying was always part of vtubing. In early years when it started becoming popular, not raiding other vtubers made everyone mad at you for stealing views. Streamers were spreading rumors about people who didn't raid. They would often talk behind your back because of that bs or create smear campaign among streamers. This is the reason why nowadays pretty much every decent size vtuber always raids someone else and also why vtubing was really enclosed space for longest time. In those times minding your own business was issue for others. Would suspect that and all the constant drama is why some want a way out of the community. Which was discussion topic at the end of the year, and some people still treat it like cult which you need to be dedicated 110% to.

That's stupid. Wtf do you mean keeping to yourself is the equivalent of plotting an evil plan for the legion of doom? I swear you can't do anything these days without someone making conspiracy theories out of it.

I'd argue that the bullying has always been this bad, but vtubers, and people in general, are feeling more comfortable talking about their experiences. They also have greater reach though social media platforms, so they feel, and are, more likely to be heard.
